On the Other front.

My comp has been giving me fits foe a few weeks, so I took it in.
I thought for sure it was infected.

Turns out it was GFX driver. Brand new COMP !

Seems, after I got the comp, nvidia prompted for an update drivers, so I did, well

It frakked up my shot. so I rolled back the driver, and tech says that was what caused the problem.

Dedicated Gfx card, but windows didnt recognize it.or sumtin.

So I paid 81.00 for a driver update and light cleaning.


Son of a -----, that SUCKS, I need that 81.00 cuz I spent 6 days in 3 hospitals ( 2 trips to ER too) with URI and pneumonia

1) Bullet travels instantly from your weapon to the enemy.
2) Bullet always hits exactly where you aim, it doesnt spread out or wobble randomly or anything (for example, tank shells always fire with slight random tilts, but ramjet bullets always hit the dot exactly)
3) Can fire at targets at ALL distances.
4) Can 1-hit the enemy (this is harder for sniper rifles because they do only 500 damage instead of 1000, which can be important when there's hp boosts and mob shields)

There's several problems with this, so I shall label each argument and go through them separately.

Aimbotters
The map that best demonstrates why this is a problem: C&C Gobi.

This is an infantry-only map with one big center area that all paths merge up to, meaning you cannot attack the enemy base without going through the center area. This means one sakura with an aimbot can effectively ruin the game just by sitting in the center area and 1hitting everyone, and the sak won't take even a single point of damage unless by some heroic feat of coordination there are a bunch of gdi coming out from different places at the same time faster than the ramjet fire rate. (And even then the sak will probably live.)

Granted, 4.0 came out recently so there's probably none yet, but eventually they'll be back. And unlike shooting through walls and lag kills, aimbotters are significantly harder to catch for mods since they can claim "skill". In all probability, they'll ruin many games before they are caught, if ever.

Strategy Vs Skill
(There's also the teamwork component, but I'm ignoring that for now.)
Unlike most other FPS, I believe Renegade is a game of strategy, not skills. Simply put, Renegade has tanks and buildings which cripple teams in different ways upon being lost, and mostly somewhat simple to use weapons which just hit the point you aim at. Meanwhile other games have all kinds of cool things like rocket jumps, recoil, overheat, etc etc.

Most of the units in Renegade have advantages and disadvantages which makes the strategy fun, in a rock-paper-scissors kind of fashion. For example, if you're trying to kill the barracks and all you have left is the strip, you have 2 main choices: long range arty shelling or close range tanks. Both allow you to kill the building by damage or by nuking and covering (arty shells cover well enough with their splash damage even if they stay far away). Arties lose to havocs, which lose to close range tanks (like apcs/lights/stanks/flamers), which lose to mobius/pics, which lose to arties. Thus winning depends on reading your enemies and getting the right balance of units for attack and defense. Skill just determines the probabilities, in the sense that 5 autorifles may lose to 5 shotgunners in some close range tunnel with probability 60%, but decreases to 30% if the autorifles are highly skilled.

However, ramjet has two problems: They don't have enough disadvantages, and skill can raise the probabilities to certainties (100%).

One of the best maps to show why this is a problem is C&C Hangmans Canyon. This map turns into nubjet festivals so often because of the simple set of strategic advantages shown here:
Orcas/Apaches > Tanks
Snipers > Orcas/Apaches
Nothing > Snipers

There are in fact only at most 3 ways to effectively handle snipers on any map:
1) Get tanks and ignore the snipers, just charge into the enemy base and kill it while leaving the snipers alive.
2) Get Apcs and crush the snipers if they are out in the open. Clearly this doesn't work so well on many maps since there are many non-tank areas for snipers to hide in.
3) Get snipers to kill snipers.

Notice that the first 2 tends to leave most of the snipers alive, while the third requires that you get snipers. Luckily on most maps, (1) will result in hon dying and the saks will get slowly killed off even if the game doesn't end immediately. That's probably the main reason why this problem has been ignored for so long. Sadly that means for maps where (1) doesn't work well there are severe problems, which is exactly the case on hangmans canyon since flying units eat tanks and snipers eat flying units, so a team of saks and apaches beats any gdi offense to pulp.

The worst part is the extent of the advantage. For example: any experienced player knows that a med tank > arty in medium range fights, assuming no one is interfering and the players aren't doing funky things with the infantry inside their tanks. However, even though the med tank will win the fight, it'll suffer a lot of damage, meaning if the arty guy buys another arty, he can kill the med tank. In fact most tank vs tank fights are nicely balanced like this, in the sense that no tank will not get damaged from fighting another tank (not counting flying units).

Meanwhile, snipers with enough skill do not get damaged from fighting other infantry units. The bullet travels instantly, always hits the target, and 1hits the target, so there's no time for the enemy to fire back. And they work at all ranges too. In some sense, skilled snipers in non-tank areas are invincible, they have no weakness whatsoever except for other snipers, and will not get damaged even if the enemy sends an endlessly respawning line of non-sniper infantry at them from any distance. This is clearly not true for any other infantry unit.

These advantages completely ruin the strategy component of some maps. For examples, consider C&C Volcano vs C&C Hangmans Canyon.

On volcano, the defenders have the following general set of strategies:
1) Mine the base (Beats infantry timed c4 rushes) (Beaten by Hotwire/Tech/Engie rushes which just disarm the mines, and beacons outside the buildings, tank rushes, etc)
2) Camp with snipers (Beats artillery/mlrs/infantry rushes) (Beaten by tanks)
3) Camp with slow moving tanks (mammies)/railguns/pics/volts (Beats tank rushes and infantry rushes if you camp the tunnel entrances too) (Beaten by arty/mlrs/rocket soldiers which attack from far away)
4) Camp with fast moving tanks (Beats arties/mlrs/rocket soldiers and has decent infantry/tank defense too) (Beaten by heavy tank rushes, people sneaking in while tanks are out)
5) Camp with repairmen (Beats everything but beacons) (Beaten by beacons)

in some sense, you have a set of strategies to choose from, and depending on the offensive strategy picked by your opponent each strategy has a different chance of success, which makes the game about reading your enemies and planning accordingly, making it fun and interesting. There is no defensive strategy that is flawless, meaning eventually your opponents will get the right balance of attacking units to take down your base. Thus it becomes a race to see which team is better at reading the other team and using the appropriate offensive strategy to win first.

Meanwhile on Hangmans Canyon, if you're GDI and Nod is using snipers/apaches to camp... you're screwed. The set of offensive strategies is:
1) Attempt to rush with tanks. Result : Get pwnt by apaches.
2) Attempt to rush with flying units. Result: Get pwnt by snipers.
3) Attempt to kill their defense with anything other than a sniper. Result: Get pwnt by apaches/snipers.
4) Kill their defense with snipers. Result: Depends who has more skill.

There's no effective countermeasure, and the only thing that has a chance of working is (4), which has no chance if the enemy is more skilled, and doesn't actually have any practical chance of killing any buildings. This is why hangmans canyon usually just becomes a nubjet festival with no end in sight, because the strategic component has been removed. Effectively this is why some people say its as bad as conquest winter, which is famous for having no strategic component and lasting forever since Camping in with mammies + havocs (or arties + teches) is a 100% foolproof defense.

In summary: Having the strategic component of maps removed is what causes endless stalemates and makes the game less fun. Problem: Skilled snipers remove the strategic component in many maps because of their "invincibility".

Lag
Another concern about this weapon is the fact that it mixes badly with lag. With automatic weapons, lag at most awards you a few extra shots (in most cases), which isn't much, but with ramjet those shots kill. Hence you hear all the complaints about lag kills all the time, with people unfairly killing others who are behind walls. And the difficulty in shooting people definitely doesn't scale well with lag either, since lag tends to make people walk in straight lines more often. In effect this weapon rewards skill as well as lagging at the right frequency much more than other weapons.

If it was just rewarding skill, it wouldn't be as a big problem, since people with enough practice will get skilled. But since it also rewards/punishes lag, and lag isn't something you can really fix (other than by drastic measures like changing isp or moving geographically), it just seems kinda unfair.

It is a small map with only BAR and HON, which are connected in multiple ways above and below ground.

First off, these are the official modifications made to weapons that I know of:
1) Rocket Launchers' left click fires homing missiles. Right-click fires 3 non-homing missiles at once, but with a longer delay for the next shot.
2) Grenade Launchers' right click fires 3 grenades at once.
3) Flamethrowers' right click fires out extremely damaging fire (I think this is a triple fire too actually, but not entirely sure) with a shorter range.
4) Weapons spawn extremely often in all kinds of corners.

Obviously, this makes Gunner (GDI improved rocket launcher) the overall most powerful unit (before weapon pickups), which is why a lot of people believe this map is GDI biased.

This is not completely true, as there are also important things to remember about NOD infantry. They have some modifications that carry over from the normal game, mainly their suits:

1) Flamethrowers have an explosion/fire resistant suit, reducing damage from flames, c4, rockets, etc. Seriously, try jumping into proxies with a flamethrower, you can take out more of them than with other units. This is actually extremely important to know, as it gives nod quite an advantage: While GDI Gunners can still be killed by NOD soldiers picking up gunner rocket launchers, a NOD flamethrower cannot be killed by GDI soldiers picking up flamethrowers. Flamethrowers (weapons) do not work against Flamethrowers (soldiers)! I.e. no underground flamethrower rush for GDI, even if you pick up the flamethrower weapon spawn.
2) Chem troopers have a tiberium resistant suit, which pretty much renders the patch gun useless.
3) Sbh obviously still have stealth.

These suits are not something gdi can get easily (1 is impossible, 2 requires tiberium shield drop, and 3 requires crates). Meanwhile gunner rocket launcher spawns regularly so it is possible for NOD to get their hands on one quite often.

Now on to actual gameplay advice. On C&C Crevasse, there are 3 main stages of gameplay:
1) Initial Stage
As the map begins with 0 credits, everyone has to fight with basic infantry. This gives NOD a large advantage as flamethrowers are quite obviously the most powerful of the basic infantry. That said, both teams still have shotgunners which can 1hit the other units.

For NOD:
1) If you want to win easily, this is your only chance, getting a large group of flamethrowers and rushing into bar through the underground tunnels tends to raze it to bits fairly quick.
2) Remember to keep at least one person by the HON MCT, you don't want 2 gdi engies to take out the HON while the team is out flame rushing.

For GDI:
1) CAMP THE UNDERGROUND MCT. I cannot stress this point enough. Flamethrowers will destroy everything, so the chance of NOD reaching your mct is extremely high. However, since you respawn closer to your MCT than NOD does, you can still defend it with remotes/shotguns/timeds/etc.
2) If you have enough people camping the MCT, some of them can get grenadiers to pointwhore the HON above ground. It's best to do this on the highest level if you don't want to die, but since its free basic infantry you may as well just do it on the ground level and accept a few deaths.

2) Advanced Units Stage
After stipends kick in, or people pointwhored enough, people can start getting advanced units like rocket soldiers and hotwires. Now GDI has the advantage of sorts, because gunners really own face at most distances.

For GDI:
1) MINE. Use those 30 mines to the max to stop a possible flamethrower rush to the MCT. Preferably have a few Gunners camp underground in bar as well to stop any flamethrower rushes. Gunners underground should not really try to make their way to the NOD base, as they will often end up killed by random timed c4s and end up credless.
2) Continue to pointwhore the HON. This keeps nod busy repairing the structure and also gives you more credits.

For NOD:
1) Also mine, although this is not really as important since GDI can't really assault from underground. Although Gunners may seem almighty with their triple rockets underground, the trick is to camp around corners. At pointblank range, a flamethrower has a decent chance to defeat a gunner even if it fires triple shots. And the flamethrower costs 0! So you can afford to lose it while the gunner can't. Even if you fail to kill it, odds are the gunner will have lost quite a bit of hp and would have to run back to base to refill. Also, flamethrowers can rush in groups without hurting themselves or each other. The same doesn't work for gunners. A large group of gunners has a high tendency for some ally to accidentally block the rocket launcher, which means gunners can accidentally instant kill themselves if an ally backs up into them when they fire a triple rocket. Point is, keep a few flamethrowers running around underground and GDI will probably keep their distance. Also throw loads of timed c4s around the tunnels, these are pretty much guaranteed to stop the gdi advanced units from rushing in.
2) Grab weapons, preferably gunner rocket launcher and ramjets. There are multiple weapon spawn points on the map that should be remembered. Once VP system gets put back in, a flamethrower with high vp and a load of weapon pickups is arguably one of the best units in game.
3) MOST IMPORTANTLY: Take the highest level with snipers/anti infantry units. (Not flamethrowers, they don't work well at long range). It should be noted that ramjet still beats triple rockets at long range, so the highest level is really a sniper fight. Taking the highest level slows down GDI pointwhore and prevents ions from being placed.

3) Beacon Stage
After a while, everyone starts having enough money for beacons. This is especially true once !csupply is used. At this point, the fight must really be taken to the highest level.

For GDI:
1) Defensive play: Same as in the advanced unit stage, a hotwire + gunners should always be camping in bar underground to avoid being flamethrower rushed.
2) Offensive play: Take over the highest level to place an ion. Once ions are placed, gunners/snipers can kill any disarmers extremely well.


For NOD:
1) Defensive play: A few techs/flamethrowers camp underground, rest of the team get snipers and anti infantry and fight over the highest ground. Can also get a few sbhs to lurk around the base and shoot any gdi that attempts to place a beacon. The main point to realise is that HON has too many shady spots for gdi to place ions, especially the roof. This makes disarming an ion extremely hard, and thus GDI must not be allowed to place them.
2) Offensive play: As at this point most of GDI should be fighting above ground, the old flamethrower rush through the underground tunnel may still work. SBHs should not attempt to nuke the Bar without cover, even though reaching the Bar undetected is often extremely easy. Nuking alone just gives GDI a free nuke to use against the HON, as bar has 4 doors and not really any shady corners to nuke at. If you must nuke, make sure you have either sniper cover, or multiple nukes.

In summary: NOD's main offense tactic is the underground tunnel rush, while GDI's main offense tactic is the ion rush.
GDI often wins because the solution to NOD offense is simple: Get people to camp bar MCT underground.
NOD has a "less" intuitive solution of having to get snipers up top. With snipers/other anti infantry on the highest level, you can just kill any gdi that approaches the hon above ground with a beacon. Although this leaves your mct less defended, it is very difficult (and thus very unlikely) for gdi to attempt an underground rush. (I mean, think about it, the flamethrowers you kill respawn right next to you, they'll swarm you and burn you to crisp if you dare to enter the HON, and your units cost money while theirs are mostly free. GDI doesn't even have a good unit for removing proxies like NOD does, since the high hp units cost money and none of the basic infantry have explosion resistant suits)

Ohio now has like 44 of 99 Reps backing this new law.
It will be the most restrictive Abortion law in the Country. This law
states that no abortion at moment of life and determines there is life
at the first detectable heartbeat. Which happens to be appx. 18 days
after conception. That gives you less than 3 weeks to find out you are
pregnant and to decide. ( ALSO many other states are watching this and
want to use, enact this same law) Thanks to the non smoking movement,
this platform of domino-ing states is working for minor groups to make rules for the rest of us.

What happened to freedom,freedom of choice,freedom to choose?What is
next, a miscarriage is manslaughter? This I find to be not a function
of Government or ANY ONE ELSE'S but a decision of the parent(s).

What if the parent cant handle a child? What if so many things. Being
forced to be born in a setting where it is not desired. Many people
cannot handle,afford,are ready,prepared,desire,wish for, a child- So
they will now be forced to.- So this child's prospects are already
grim. I see more what if's and downsides than upsides to this rule.

I can go on and on for many reasons. But because someone else believes
it is wrong, or it is their personal belief, that forces others to
carry out their belief,will, and not that individuals belief or will is
outright wrong.

This is happening way too much and too often.Mandating everything from cradle to grave.
These people cant even balance the books or keep their finances in order. But want to rule it all?
If an individual can balance his or her books and the govt cant, who is more responsible?

pay for the child's delivery? food? diapers?immunizations?medical? and
all other financial burdens a child requires?Will the State pay for all

I think a person(s) can be allowed to make the decision if they can be responsible enough to raise a child.Also, if this is mandated I see shit hitting the fan as to who pays for the ones who are not wanted,mistreated,abused and all other stuff because the parents could not abort.or failed or who knows what.

First up is Hourglass Flying 2. This map was originally made by Fabian from the A Path Beyond team, A standalone mod that turns renegade into Red Alert. The map looks MUCH better then renegay's version. Trees, Waterfalls, And a pleasing atmosphere. The only thing wrong with this map is the airforce, of all things. What I am planning to do is make it so the airforce is more CnC like, not EA's version of an airforce. Here are some planned changes:
  • Ramjets are no longer WTH killers of aircraft
  • The orca is fast and manuaverable, but has weak armor
  • The apache is slow and cumbersome, but has strong armor
  • SAMS now track targets
  • New Secondary fire for rocket launchers, planned features: A fast rocket, tracks target, murders aircraft
  • Turrets and Guard towers no longer target aircraft (But AGTs and Obis will still do so)
In addition, I am making these changes:
  • Recon bike Unlocked
  • MRLS now rotates
  • If at all possible, SSM launcher unlocked, need the suicide to go away though

55-70 tops till the overhaul of tracks is made- more money to fix in future, and all subsidized and being paid for by taxpayers. Not a business,company,corporation. Why? Because it will not earn revenue.

I am curious as to why we need a HIGH SPEED TRAIN to the 3 cities cols,cleve,cincy.
They are each only appx 115 miles away.Tracks will be shared by freight and passenger train.(big oppty for accidents and fouls ups)(will need many Statewide cameras to watch for-???????)
Are there that many people who commute to these cities from the other 2 cities? With tracks also being used by freight, seems to be there will be a very limited schedule.

They have spent ( I read) 25 million on this so far.And not a thing has been made or built or layed. Yeah Sure this will create temporary construction work, contracts. It will create new jobs in other areas,but they will all be supported by Gov't(taxpayer) money. Was not this model of

Now that Ohio will have a new governor, they expect Ohio now to follow other states in suing the feds on healthcare reform.

The picture on the left is the gradebook - basicly shows the amount of points you earned and can earn per question. The one on the right is the result of my assesment - weighted means the score counting to my overall score, binary is the percentage of correct questions. In other words, if you have 10/20 points, you get 50% WEighted score, if 5 out of 10 questions got you full points, you got a binary score of 50%.


Programming is getting more and more interesting, went from If/Else to the DoWhile Loop. Guess somebody was smart enough to put a print function right into the loop. Nice error message "OVERFLOW", but whatever :P

That is also the reason for my little Break, I was busy learning CISCO etc.
Anyway, we gotta leave now, teacher is telling us to GTFO and let the other group work.

An election should be fair and impartial. So why does it require so much money to get the word out, to influence people,change minds.get elected? It just opens the door to more lies,untruths,bending,twisting,slander or spin.And it always is the same. After my many years of voting, nothing has changed or is new in these political ads.

It was like when I was in the Army. I used to say ,after being in for some time,Why do we go to the same spots to train? As in blacklisting by trucking companies- I was, and if I had a tape recording of the conversation of it,along with the fictitious evidence provided tothe reporting agencies it would have been national news.
But my Rep did not do a thing about it.It is still being practiced.And to get the facts changed, guess who is the only one who can change it? the Company.They listed me as having 3 incidents in 6 months including an accident with another vehicle when it never happened- I even got the police dept of Panama City to collaborate this but it did not do any good.

It was actually one of the only things I used to be good at. Or was it the only one? I can't think of anything else I used to be good at in the past, so fuck that shit.

If you are used to win every game and notice times change, or the way things happen, you get mad at that. Because it gives you (or at least me) the feeling of being kind of horrible. I would call myself pretty unforgiving, any unfair treatment towards me makes me go on a rampage, fair treatment in return makes me calm, and feel great.

This is what I miss at all these games - Modern Warfare 2, Renegade - amazing games, poeple used to play in a team, use their head and even improve your expierience.. But now?

Took an assesment in CISCO today and got 90.5 binary score (that means, 90.5% of the Questions were 100% correct) and 95.5 weighted score, meaning I reached 95.5% of the possible points. (22 out of 24).

Programming is making good process. Currently learning C, (C++ is coming up next year) using the Borland Compiler. Quite easy console based applications using math header files and basic I/O functions to display a text, do a math operation or something else. Up next is the if and else stuff, so it's getting more and more interesting.

At IT, we are currently working with digital technology - Logic Gates is the actual hardpoint we are working with. Pretty fun stuff.

ComTech is simply bullshit. All we learned is how an OS works, how Bussystems are working and are currently discussing the use of Virtual Operating systems.

Something that really shocked and awed me was this. I read in yesterday's newspaper about the lawsuits arising from this legislation.

Out government is challenging all lawsuits on the health care issue.
If it is legit, why is the gov't challenging the suits? Can they be wrong?
Is their legislation faulty?
Oh wait till you hear their reasons.


A lot of the charges that this is unconstitutional is the fact that sections of this law require individuals to have health insurance or face PENALTIES, and also require states to pay additional medicaid costs not covered by the federal gov't. (divide and conquer)(states suing feds)
(a house divided cannot stand)This is the liberal democratic way, They have 'demon'strated this time and again.

The gov't and Obama administration is arguing that this section does not take effect until 2015.So your complaint is null until the law is in effect? but the law has been signed.Passed? Ratified? by 1 Party. And this is the defense?

Also,when in 2015 it does go into effect, it is up to individuals to sue the govt, to challenge the constitutionality, NOT THE STATES. or anyone else. -This is our govt (Obama and co.)That we as americans have to sue on an individual basis that this is unconstitutional? ( well it would be nice to see their faces when 145 million peole go to local courts and file a suit)

18 States have so far filed suits against this.Over 1/3 says something is wrong with this Law.It seems it was crafted to to refute any challenge, not for our welfare.Anjd also, They passed this on their ideas and priniciples, and without support from americans.

Just some thoughts that happened during an IRC conversation today. St0rm's Coop is pretty darn impressive -- assuming it is the only thing in all the gaming world putting human players together on the same team to work through objectives in a military environment. And the player count can well exceed over 4-players, or more.

But...the maps for the Coop Server were made for 20-30+ players, and that number only. The difficulty also suits that number of players. Yes, there are ways to win a mission with less than 20 players; there are tricks, small glitches, varying amounts of luck, and plain old 'if enough decent players log on, you can win a map'....but for the most part, the maps on St0rm's Extreme Coop Server are NOT built for anything less than huge amounts of players.

And are there huge amounts of players nowadays to fill up the Coop Server for St0rm? Sure, 2-3 years ago there was a lot of players all the time to fill up the Coop Server and make the missions a breeze to finish -- but right now, in 2010, years later when the standard player counts for the Coop Server are usually 7-12 on average? (Weekends are still busy for St0rm's Coop Server though) I don't know, my personal thoughts are that it would be nice to see the maps get an update to match with how many players log on regularly nowadays.

The difficulty for most of the maps have made the !poll gameover the most frequently used solution to end just about every map. 1/10 times will you ever see a map finish because enough players wanted to finish it, and had the ability to do so.

It would be nice to see the St0rm's Extreme Coop Server receive a healthy dose of attention and updates to remedy this situation, because although !poll gameover still gives 'ends' the mission, there are a lot of things being missed out.

In addition, there are still some maps/missions that have 'Incomplete Coding', and need to be properly finished up.

A lot of the new guys actually are into St0rm and want to help and constantly ask to help. A lot of the old players think they have earned shit for being here or secured their position and don't have to do anything. We need new ideas, fresh thoughts, and new looks on the community and when they are dedicated enough they can become anything.

What is the most happy and the most sad moment during your St0rm career?

Most happy is the peak of St0rm when everything was going great and we had over 2k active users. Saddest is when we lost it all and had to start over.

What do you value most about st0rm?

The amount of people who are active and being able to go into any part of the network and say, "Hey, who wants to do this?!" and always having people there to play with you.

You were what, 12 when you started St0rm? How did you learn all the coding you know now?

I honestly love Copy and Paste and the whole Try and Try and Try till it works. I know a lot more now then I did back then, I hope to continue to learn more as their are many people in the community far more skilled than me. I enjoy the administration aspect of the community. I have no need to learn everything unless I want to manage everything by myself.

The Ren Council do have lives but they will be handling a lot of new tasks soon. We hope to clean up the network staff a bit this weekend. Also I would say currently the most active admin is Troy. He always is ready to work, he goes up and beyond the call and will always take the time to help anyone.

How do you know you'll be in a neww relationship in a month? You can't predict the future. That's such a short time from now. You move fast.

If you set goals and try to meet them its easier to go through life. If I keep a positive attitude and hope I have a better chance of finding someone or completing that goal. No, I am not. I am able to make jokes and sexual comment because I am comfortable with myself and around others. If you don't like that then don't listen or read what I have to say. I don't have many problems with people and not many have had issues with the jokes I make because most of them are mature adults who can differentiate between jokes and actual comments.

Being an admin requires a lot of patients and understanding of rules and people. You need to know how to handle multiple cases and problems fairly and also view them with an unbiased opinion. Its hard work but with time it gets easier.

d3onegeneral is often overlooked because of his language barrier but is dedicated to St0rm and should be resected. Remember just because you can't understand someone does not make them stupid or not cool. They could be really smart in their country and also have a rich amount of knowledge to bring to the table.

A month from now I see myself starting my classes and getting my life in order, maybe possibly a new relationship. I give trust out as people earn it and as I see fit, trust is not something someone just gets or earns out of the blue, they have to show dedication and knowledge. Also some aspects of the network setup must not be played with unless you have extensive knowledge about that area. Changing one item could crash and set back St0rm Months.

When do you think you're going to stop with St0rm, if ever? Do you have plans to quit or can you manage it so far in combination with your real life? Also, if you could change one thing on St0rm, what would it be?

I am working on a plan to slowly make St0rm self reliant so that it can continue to grow under my supervision or possibly under a new head. I was tired of the communities that did not meet my needs. I also do not like taking orders from others when it comes to games. I created St0rm as a community were unique ideas and people could gather and play games together as one. You know about it yet? It's the most recent 'funny' little thing running on in the St0rm community at the moment both on the forums and IRC.

How many of you have felt that inescapable fear when you first starting playing Renegade and realized that harmless looking Harvestor (Not the one in the picture above) could ACTUALLY SQUISH YOU?

Well if you did, then behold, you'll probably get a better idea of what HarvyWars is all about. Originally thought up by Rayven in this topic: http://www.st0rm.net/forum/showthrea...068-Harvy-OWNS!!, the idea was then expanded to IRC via FreakySt0rm writing up a script that tracks all the kills the harvestors make in the St0rm IRC channels.

And then more recently mrackz posted a picture showing a fearsome, wide-eyed, mouth-gaping face pasted onto the front of a Harvestor. The most recent result of that? Well now apparently people are asking for skins of that to put into their Renegade folder. Someone even suggested this:

One can only think how much more craziness (and in the opinion of a few other people, more spam-tardness) this whole HarvyWars will generate.

Look familiar? ^.^ Well look closely, and you'll notice a key difference!

That's right Ladies and Gentlemen of the St0rm Coop Community (if there even is one), the IRC announcements for the IRC #st0rm-coop channel have been updated, and combined with evidence from official authorities, it is quite safe to confirm that it is A-OKAY to be in the Coop Server and IRC for St0rm. ^.^ *Does a jig* ;)

As you just might remember from this particular blogpost:Cannot be in IRC when on the Coop Server?, the original issue was that a common rule across the St0rm community was made to apply to the Coop Server. In particular, the rule was that players could not be in IRC channels for a server while also being in-game, except for moderator personnel/official staff. While this rule was quite handy to have in place for 90% of the servers St0rm does host, it doesn't quite fit the St0rm's Extreme Coop Server environment.

Yes, two of the perhaps twelve maps on the server do pit human players against each other, one of them being M01.mix, but the majority of the maps on St0rm's Extreme Coop Server are...well just that, Coop. No humans fighting each other, no objectives that force players to slaughter one another to achieve victory. Just die-hard, extremely bot-kickin' awesome missions that force all human players to work together on the same team, to work through scripted objectives and checkpoints setup by the creators of each map. (In most cases this being Wilost0rm himself).

So with that in mind, I am quite glad to finally confirm that this rule no longer applies for the Coop Server. While there is no announcement about this from St0rm themselves officially on the website or forums, I can provide you with the following images from a direct conversation with Wilo today on IRC. Hopefully this can lay to rest any previous doubts or concerns regarding this rule.



I took a couple more screenshots as a backup, but I hope this should suffice. Anyone that wants to see further proof of this feel free to contact me and I'll send you the extra screenshots to confirm all this. It's very possible to pull the logs from IRC too, and if there are any serious suspicions about my evidence, you can ask any st0rm moderator with access to IRC logs to check today's logged chat for #st0rm. ^.^

Many thanks to the individuals whom were kind enough to warn me about this rule. It is good to know St0rm's moderators do pay close attention to the rules, and especially the moderators that are involved regularly in the Coop Server. May you continue to do an excellent job.

I have to say I'm quite impressed with how pretty well integrated and installed everything is. You can change a lot of blog settings to what you want, you can create/manage categories for your blog posts, and you can even create a few custom webpages of your own. <-- Will be taking advantage of this xD

My only main gripe would have to be that the Blog button on most of St0rm's main web-pages (the portal, the index of the forums, etc) is very small and miniscule -- meaning it's not easy to recognize when your browsing the site, unless you know where to look. In my opinion that means less traffic and less overall activity/interest goes towards the Blog features St0rm has installed -- except for those that have already found it.

A shame really, it's quite obvious a lot of work went into coding and setting this feature up to be integrated with the rest of the St0rm web domain, but there is a lot of improvement to be had in how visible these different 'categories' of features in St0rm are displayed. Nevertheless, if any of the personnel whom worked with Wilo to make this happen are reading -- then great work gents/ladies. Not a bad job you've done here installing this feature onto St0rm's site.

And so apparently this is the basis of which I've been told (in a friendly way) by several St0rm moderators in the IRC Channel to be aware of. Today, actually.

Now I've asked about this rule before, in regards to the Coop Server for St0rm, and from what I was told by administrators, and even from Wilo's own words, was that, for the Coop Server, it's fine to be in IRC and in-game. Of course on the single condition that your not playing a map where human players are split into Nod and GDI. (It's M01.mix and another one I believe). All other maps were fine to be in IRC and in-game, they told me.

However, the problem is that although they may have told me this awhile ago, there was no changes made to the rules about it, and so basically whatever exceptions to that rule were made clear to me a few months ago -- might as well be non-existent.

And so some of you might be asking yourself, rather cynically and with a smug smile on your face; "Why the f*ck do you need to be on IRC for the Coop Server anyways? Your not a mod, and it's none of your business to be on IRC while in-game, even for the Coop Server."

True, I'm not a moderator. True, I don't really have any 'moderator-related' reasons to be on IRC in the first place. But there are several reasons to be on IRC while in-game for the Coop Server, and here are a two:

- IRC logs and documents in-game chat
- More easy to connect with a moderator

The first one is the most important for me. I may not be a moderator, but I don't like having negative situations pop up on the server any more than the next guy. Dealing with the player by sending warnings, or temporarily kicking them, is not my role, nor do I assume it. However, when trouble brews in-game, it's usually helpful to document it via screenshots, or logs. Being in IRC for the Coop Server can help this way -- even if I'm not a moderator.

The second reason can easily be done by just calling for a moderator in the main St0rm IRC Channel (Which is #St0rm), but still, being on IRC, in the Coop Channel, allows you to at least show a moderator exactly what the situation might be, instead of just guessing the moderators know which part of the chat to look at. (Sometimes between the time you take to switch out of Renegade, into IRC, and to finally get a moderator to respond to you, the incident may have already scrolled up far into the chat -- where moderators might have a hard time pinpointing it.)

So I've explained a bit of the reasoning for it, and maybe it's not the best, but in my view it's still a valid set of assumptions. What is the solution then? What possible ways are there to solve this?

Well the first one is obviously to clarify this rule once again with St0rm Staff; Is it alright to be in IRC #st0rm-coop while in-game on St0rm's Extreme Coop Server? Are there exceptions? If so, what are they?

The second step, would be to get it changed in the official IRC rules for St0rm's channels. That message posted at the beginning of this blogpost is taken right from the topic announcement that plays when you first enter the #st0rm-coop channel.

I'm aware that there is a Network Meeting for the St0rm Community tomorrow in the afternoon (10 GMT Saturday April 3rd 2010, you should attend if you can, it's like a huge Teamspeak party, but with 10% order xD), but I might not be able to make it due to my friends and I heading out to do a bike ride to a local park. (We're training for a wilderness camp we'll be attending to watch over some high-school kids as trained first-aid personnel). So most likely unless our biking trip is canceled, I won't be able to attend and ask a few questions about this coop server-related rule.

Ah wells though, what can you do? I've already talked to a few other st0rm moderators in IRC, and they have based their answers on the rules currently set on IRC and on the forums.

Is it really necessary for the Coop Server though? (Excluding the two maps where humans are divided into Nod and GDI).

I'm slightly suspicious that posting blog entries on a community site like this might lend itself to abuse (aka moderators, administrators messing around with people's blogs for fun), but I might as well give it a shot, and see how well it all works out. Blogging on St0rm seems to be going really smoothly anyways so far, so probably nothing to worry about!

Well about this blog...I'm first and foremost a Renegade player, more particularly, a coop player. As you might see on other Renegade-related sites, I love coop gaming, which by my definition, is the event where all human players (and I mean everyone) are teamed up on one team against AI Bots, and are given a set of objectives to accomplish together.

I could explain this further, but the fact is I prefer, I enjoy, and I love playing coop. I don't involve myself that much with AOW, Marathon, Sniper, or other gamemodes that Renegade has. Personally, I see too much ego-centered jerks and flammatory *tards*, for a lack of better word, when playing on any other server besides Coop, and the mentality of those modes just doesn't suit my taste and preferences. Why is it most videogamers think gaming should be all about 'beating the shitz' out of other guys and getting laughs out of it? :/ Not really friendly, respectful, or fun for the other person now is it?

Moving on from that depressing talk! xD The basis of my blog here will be mostly about Coop and anything relating to St0rm in that regards. I'll probably talk about other stuff surrounding the St0rm Community (That's usually the nature of blogs -- you can go off on random subjects), but for the most part, if you decide to read stuff I write, it'll *90%* be about Coop-related stuff on St0rm. Obviously I have the right to change that at any time I feel like it. Bwahahaha. ^.^

On to renegade stuff. My all time favorite map is Glacier Flying, and I can hear the booing already. I also love Walls Flying....Anyways, I suck at sniping but I'll do it sometimes. I pwn with Patch...yeah. The maps I don't like would be Under and Field since they go on forever. Uhm I'm a fail driver, never ever trust me to drive you. Please keep that in mind if you prefer to live. But if you're in a dieing mood, then I'm your driver!

Other games I play would be Pokemon and Sims 2...I know you'll all be laughing at me by now... I love cookies, as you all may know, but I HATE peanut butter cookies. >.< The llama is my favorite animal...yep, cue more laughing.

I'm actually quite random. I mean I can be serious, but I like to have fun and a good laugh. Just because I'm female doesn't mean I don't know how to laugh. XD So yep.

Any fat system, the original runs, the ones following, the first 3 batches of PS3's basically, are all bricked. Because the internal clock thinks that it's 12/31/1999. See photo.



This means anything on the system that's download date / activation date / paid for / protected will be corrupted. Games can still be played, sure. But not online. No PSN for me. No PSN for tons and tons and tons of other people, either. And what about the people that don't have internet? Lets say this little ---- up gets fixed. What the hell then? If it's an internet update, all the people without an internet connection and the little third world poor peoples will be screwed, since this was a flaw built into the basic machine.

So what about a recall then. I don't want a ----ing recall. If I wanted to play it that badly, I'd play the wifes. The slim still works fine. But I despise the slim. It's like the terrible offspring of a cow turd and goobers. It's just fugly. And it's not ----ing backwards compatible. I value mine because I can play all my favorite old games from PS1 and PS2 on it still. It was so much nicer and had so much more than these shitty new ones.

Sigh. It's been to 4 different continents with me, It's played almost every PS3 game released short of shitty sports games, and it's been my sole source of entertainment when I was bored out of my mind. And now it's dead. Very ----ing depressing.

I love Sony. I honestly do. But if they do a recall and refuse to let me keep the system I paid ----ing £600 for, and give me some shitty little thing worth only £300 that doesn't play everything I own, I'm just going to stop being such a loyal fanboy.
